How Killam funding has benefited you
I would like to express my feeling of utmost gratitude to the Killam Trusts for financial contribution towards my education and academic accomplishment this year. Receiving this fund will allow me to cover my study and research expenses. It will also help me to attend several conferences where I will get the opportunity to meet various people ranging from academicians, researchers to professional engineers. I will get their views and valuable advice on my works and exchange ideas with them.
By awarding me the scholarship, the Killam Trusts has not only lightened my financial burden but also recognized me as one of the top ranked students at the University of Calgary. This prestigious scholarship is a tremendous benefit to me now, and I know that recognition of receiving this scholarship will continue to aid my successes in the years ahead.

A short testimonial of what it means to you to be a Killam Scholar
It is such a pleasure to receive this award. It is especially meaningful because it not only recognizes my academic achievements but also validates my scientific aspirations. Being part of the elite group of Killam scholars was like a dream when I started graduate study at the University of Calgary. This highly prestigious award motivates me to continue to excel, to promote my area of research and foster scientific communication. I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the Killam Trusts for honoring me with this scholarship. I am sincerely grateful!

Why you chose the University where you are currently studying?
I have chosen University of Calgary because of my supervisor Dr. Richard Tay, currently holds an endowed research chair in road safety in the Department of Civil Engineering and an adjunct professorship in the Department of Community Health Sciences at University of Calgary as well as an adjunct professorship in the School of Psychology at Queensland University of Technology (QUT). He has lectured at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, Chinese University in Hong Kong, Lincoln University in New Zealand and Queensland QUT in Australia. He was also a visiting scholar at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in USA. He has been invited to many government panels, committees & task forces on road safety in Canada and around the world. In particular, he was a member of the Alberta Traffic Safety Plan Advisory Committee as well as subcommittees on Enforcement, Communications, Engineering, First Nations, Research and Legislation. He currently serves as on board of director of the Alberta Traffic Safety Foundation, Centre for Transportation Engineering and Planning, and the Van Horne Institute of Transportation. He has been invited to speak at and has chaired technical sessions at many road safety conferences around the world. He also serves on the editorial board of several scientific journals.
