What it means to you to be a Killam Scholar
I am so deeply honoured and truly humbled to be given such a prestigious award and to have my work acknowledged in this way. It is my pleasure to be able to call myself a Killam Scholar and I will strive to always make the Killam Foundation proud.
How Killam funding has benefited you
Receiving this award has not only benefited me in providing the financial support needed to perform my research, but it also gives me the opportunity to attend scientific conferences where I can discuss my work with scientists on an international stage. Most importantly, it has given me such encouragement and desire to be the best scientist that I can be.
Why you chose the University where you are currently studying
I chose the University of Alberta for my research because my home department has been internationally recognized for its high quality of work and because I was interested in the cancer research going on in our lab.
